ASA’s World Initiative for Soy in Human Health Program’s strategic partner, Sesaco Limited, brought the benefits of soy flour and other high-value soy ingredients to world’s largest food and beverage show, Gulfood, held January 26-30 in Dubai. Over the years, Sesaco has sent multiple staffs and key Ugandan customers to WISHH trainings in Uganda as well as the United States so they can gain expertise on how to use soy protein in a variety of products, including the baked goods and prepackaged bakers’ flours on display at Gulfood.

The Ugandan government-supported Made in Uganda program selected Sesaco as one of 16 companies to display products in their Made in Uganda (MIU) pavilion. MIU is the country’s national export-promotion and market-access venture enabling Ugandan manufacturers and others to reach global buyers.

WISHH training and technical support has contributed to Sesaco being a pioneer with soy protein in foods in East Africa. The family business promotes soy flour to bakers as well as makes a wide range of innovative soy-based foods, such as its coffee-inspired Soyacup beverage, soy millet porridges, meat extenders, and even frozen desserts. The company has longstanding relationship with schools and has developed products for school nutrition programs.
