The ASA’s World Initiative for Soy in Human Health program hosted a trade team with business leaders from Latin America, Asia, and sub-Saharan Africa at the Northern Crops Institute’s INTSOY: Introduction to Soybean Short Course June 8-12 in Fargo, North Dakota. WISHH collaborated with the Minnesota Soybean Research & Promotion Council, North Dakota Soybean Council and South Dakota Soybean, to bring business and food industry leaders from Sri Lanka, Cambodia, Guatemala, El Salvador, the Dominican Republic and Kenya to the event.
INTSOY gives trade team members a comprehensive look at the U.S. soy value chain, from production to food and feed applications. Attendees toured soybean research plots, visited a North Dakota soybean farm, and learned directly from farmer leaders and industry experts about the quality, reliability and versatility of U.S. soy.
The course also highlighted innovative soy food applications, including tofu, soymilk, textured soy proteins and soy-based products. Participants gained hands-on experience and explored emerging opportunities for soy in human nutrition and food manufacturing. Additional visits to soybean processing facilities and feed manufacturing demonstrations showcased how U.S. soy delivers value across multiple sectors. Trade team members also visited a soybean farm in order to learn how soy is sustainably grown in the United States.
