WISHH brought five leading agribusinesses from Kenya and Senegal to the Africa Food Systems Forum in Kigali, Rwanda, connecting business leaders with potential investors as they look to expand their operations and meet growing demand for animal protein across Africa. The five businesses represented aquaculture and poultry production as well as and feed manufacturing, highlighting the diverse opportunities for U.S. soy across Africa’s rapidly expanding economy.

Held September 1-4 under the theme “Investing in Africa’s Agri-Food Systems: Nourishing Nations, Growing Jobs, Building Resilience,” the 2026 Africa Food Systems Forum brought together more than 5,000 stakeholders from more than 50 countries. WISHH’s trade team delegation supported its partners in pitch sessions aimed at building relationships with investors and exploring opportunities to expand production, strengthen their businesses, and serve growing markets.
For some investors, aquaculture represents a particularly promising opportunity. Aquaculture is the fastest-growing animal protein in the world. As African aquaculture businesses expand production, demand will also grow for high-quality feed ingredients, which creates an opportunity for U.S. soy. As these companies expand their production, they can become larger and more consistent customers for U.S. soy as a feed ingredient.
