This January, the ASA’s World Initiative for Soy in Human Health program is accompanying trade team members from Asia and Africa to the International Production & Processing Expo following their participation in the University of Georgia’s International Poultry Short Course in Athens, Georgia.
13 trade team partners from Senegal, Ghana, Kenya, Kazakhstan joined IPPE where participants can directly connect with U.S. suppliers and technology providers. They were able to meet with companies offering feed ingredients, poultry production systems, and processing equipment, gaining exposure to new technologies not often offered in their home markets.
These connections support long-term growth in emerging poultry and livestock sectors by enabling participants to see how investments in their businesses can be backed with U.S. soy. WISHH’s partners also build relationships with the U.S. poultry and soy industry.
WISHH collaborated with the United Soybean Export Council on a booth to communicate the value of U.S. soy to a global audience at IPPE.
“IPPE has more than 30,000 attendees from over 120 countries,” explained WISHH Executive Director Gena Perry. “So, alongside we took this unique opportunity to show our trade team partners and any potential customers productive, long-term growth in the poultry and livestock sectors that drives value back to U.S. soybean farmers.”
WISHH leveraged USDA FMD, RAPP, and MAP funds alongside support from the Illinois Soybean Association for this year’s trade team. Additionally, WISHH Vice Chair Scott Gaffner joined the trade team to discuss the value of U.S. soy to WISHH trade team participants and general attendees at the expo.
