May is World Trade Month, a time to highlight how important international markets are to U.S. soybean farmers. Nearly 60% of U.S. soy products are exported, meaning global relationships directly influence long-term profitability for farmers. The American Soybean Association’s World Initiative for Soy in Human Health program helps build those relationships and expand demand for U.S. soy worldwide.
WISHH works across 29 countries in Latin America, sub-Saharan Africa, and Asia, in developing and emerging markets where future demand is poised to grow. WISHH builds industries that will rely on high-quality U.S. soy for years to come. This approach creates reliable trade partners while also improving food security in regions that need consistent, nutritious protein sources like U.S. soybeans for human food and animal feed.
In order to build these trade partnerships WISHH relies on a strong network of support including USDA foreign agricultural service funds and national and state soybean checkoff programs. This summer, WISHH will bring dozens of international partners from three continents to the United States, visiting seven states to experience firsthand the value of U.S. soy for both food and feed applications. These exchanges strengthen relationships and showcase the innovation and reliability of U.S. soy to current and prospective buyers.
