Course: Particle Size Reduction, Batching and Mixing

Description: Learn the purpose of the grinding process, and the role of hammermills and roller mills. Factors affecting grinding efficiency and measuring and expressing particle size are also covered. This session also covers the types of equipment used to batch ingredients, how to calculate the batch cycle time and how to determine the correct order of ingredient addition to a mixer. The final segment shares the importance of feed uniformity on the animal as well as the types of mixers and factors affecting mixer performance.
