Late last year, WISHH signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at strengthening collaboration on development and trade for U.S. soy with the government of Uzbekistan.

The ASA’s World Initiative for Soy in Human Health Program’s Executive Director Gena Perry met with representatives from the Government of Uzbekistan in Washington, DC last week. The meeting reinforced the foundations of a recently signed memorandum of understanding aimed at strengthening collaboration on development and trade for U.S. soy. The discussion highlighted U.S. soy’s role improving food security, strengthening private-sector capacity, and building connections between Uzbek buyers and U.S. suppliers.

The meeting comes at a time when Uzbekistan is expanding in its agricultural industries, particularly poultry.  According to the Fund for Reconstruction and Development of Uzbekistan, the government anticipates up to $420 million in poultry farm investments by the end of the decade, supported by international organizations and financial institutions, alongside favorable policies such as tax exemptions for producers. With poultry production already reaching 544,700 metric tons, up 3.5% year-over-year.  WISHH’s partnership with Uzbekistan helps position U.S. soybean farmers to meet rising demand while supporting Uzbekistan’s long-term food security and economic growth.
