The American Soybean Association’s World Initiative for Soy in Human Health program showcased its aquaculture development work at Aquaculture Ghana in Accra last month. The two-day conference connects industry leaders, farmers, and consumers across the continent. WISHH’s role in aquaculture development and strengthening the fisheries industry across the continent is leading to an increase in U.S. soy in Africa. 18 of WISHH’s partners attended the conference from Ghana, Nigeria, and Togo.
WISHH’s participation emphasized the importance of high-quality, U.S. soy-based feeds in building sustainable aquaculture value chains in Africa. The conference allowed WISHH the opportunity to engage with hundreds of attendees and share insights on how soy supports fish growth, feed efficiency, and profitability for farmers.
As part of the event, WISHH also sponsored a special farmer training session titled WISHH Farmers Training on Feed Management. The session provided practical guidance on feed formulation, management practices, and efficient use of soy-based ingredients. WISHH continues to work with feed producers in sub-Saharan Africa to expand their market opportunities.
WISHH leveraged support from the United Soybean Board with USDA Foreign Market Development funds to participate in this year’s conference.
