WISHH Makes Presentations to Arkansas and Kansas QSSBs

St. Louis…ASA Leader Letter... December 17, 2009… Jim Hershey, Executive Director of the American Soybean Association’s (ASA) World Initiative for Soy in Human Health (WISHH) program, made a presentation to the Kansas Soybean Commission by phone, as well as one to the Arkansas Soybean Promotion Board in person this month. Both states are long-time supporters of WISHH, promoting exports of U.S. soy to developing countries for food uses.

In FY09 WISHH had support from 22 Qualified State Soybean Boards (QSSBs) and the United Soybean Board (USB). So far, for FY10, WISHH has allocations from 17 QSSBs totaling $829,000, with more winter meetings on the way. The budgeted total for checkoff funds, both QSSB and USB, in FY10 is $1,050,000, about 47 percent of WISHH’s total budget. More than half of WISHH’s budget comes from the U.S. Department of Agriculture and other funding agencies.
