ASA/WISHH Program Committee Meets–Honors Born and Huffman

The ASA/WISHH Program Committee held its business meeting on July 12 as well as participated in a July 13 briefing with U.S. Department of Agriculture Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) staff. Outgoing Vice Chair Levi Huffman of Indiana and Treasurer Stan Born of Illinois, who have completed their tenures on the Committee, received recognition for their service. The USDA briefing allowed WISHH’s leadership to gain insight into the multiple FAS programs that WISHH uses to connect trade and development opportunities for U.S. soybean growers. Staff for the FAS Office of Capacity Building and Development as well as the FAS Office of Trade Programs reported on the scale of their programs as well as their work with WISHH. Other FAS offices also spoke, explaining their support through analysis, strategic planning and overseas operations in FAS offices around the world. While the farmer leaders from across the nation were in Washington, D.C., WISHH also conducted its annual committee member training, covering topics ranging from governance and financial management to funding and communications.
